Simultaneous Interpretation
In simultaneous interpretation, the interpreter renders the speech into another language at the same time as the speaker, making maximum use of time. Conference interpreters work in a booth wearing headphones, listening to the speaker and interpreting concurrently. Attendees receive the interpretation via receiver units. Simultaneous interpretation is widely used in international conferences, symposiums, seminars, and workshops. Interpreters typically work in teams of two (three for highly complex subjects), alternating to maintain peak concentration.
